Concept translation: the Dutch text prevails.
Put the steps in the order in which you do them.
- Put the plug (stekker) into the car’s socket
- Reverse the car straight back until the ball is right under the coupling, and put the car on its handbrake
- Attach the breakaway cable (losbreekkabel)
- Check that the coupling is really locked on
- Put the trailer on its handbrake and bring the coupling (koppeling) to the height of the ball (kogel) with the jockey wheel (neuswiel)
- Wind the jockey wheel (neuswiel) all the way up and fix it
- Release the trailer’s handbrake and walk round the lights
- Lower the coupling over the ball until it clicks shut

The right order
- Put the trailer on its handbrake and bring the coupling (koppeling) to the height of the ball (kogel) with the jockey wheel (neuswiel)
- Reverse the car straight back until the ball is right under the coupling, and put the car on its handbrake
- Lower the coupling over the ball until it clicks shut
- Check that the coupling is really locked on
- Attach the breakaway cable (losbreekkabel)
- Put the plug (stekker) into the car’s socket
- Wind the jockey wheel (neuswiel) all the way up and fix it
- Release the trailer’s handbrake and walk round the lights
Steps 5, 6 and 7 may be done in any order.
First everything stands still and safe: the trailer on its handbrake, the car too. Only when the coupling (koppeling) is locked on and you have checked it do you attach the rest. The breakaway cable (losbreekkabel), the plug (stekker) and the jockey wheel (neuswiel) may come in another order, as long as they are done before you drive off. Last, you release the trailer’s handbrake and walk round the lights.
